Hello everyone! I’m Jayden, a JC1 student who attended Fizika’s weekly lessons in 2025. Since you’re reading this, I’m assuming you’re thinking of joining the SPhO training programme. So let’s see what Fizika has in store for us!

Off the top of my head, the best thing Fizika has to offer is its concise and insightful handouts. Each topic’s handout (ranging from thermodynamics to quantum physics) is broken into three parts: general theory, Olympiad tricks and question bank. Firstly, general theory encompasses important formulas that can be used to solve simpler types of questions (that come out as sub-parts in the SPhO). Secondly, Olympiad tricks (and I stress this for a reason!) includes many sleights of hand that may be too subtle for us students to notice on our own. The trainers will also go through the worked examples for us to internalise the concepts. The ideas introduced here are distilled into bite-sized pieces (as opposed to Morin and Griffiths!); so don’t fret if you have struggled with textbooks previously. And I personally believe that mastering these techniques puts you in good stead for what lies beyond the SPhO too! Lastly, one must still “grind” when one reaches the question bank. What I find particularly beneficial is the wide breadth of question styles available. You have more traditional questions (from Competitive Physics etc.) to past year Olympiad questions (Singapore, Russian, USA style). They have been specially curated by the trainers to provide opportunities for us to utilise the tips and tricks we have just learnt. So please try them :P

The Fizika trainers are also very committed to their craft! Whenever I had queries on a topic, I could always receive their help in a timely fashion. Their conversational tone makes it an enjoyable process so no need to worry! They did all the questions before so they’ll guide you through the thought process (and hint at what tricks to use). Such 1-1 guidance is very valuable and makes Fizika stands out.

Now, let me share a more personal experience… In the months leading up to the SPhO, I was feeling quite nervous. Even doing the handouts couldn’t allay my fears. That’s where another benefit of Fizika comes in; our comprehensive repository of past year SPhO papers! Doing them allowed me to recognise patterns in the question and topics set. Moreover, I could also see my performance under timed conditions so I felt more confident when sitting for the real SPhO. While preparing for the experimental round, I similarly felt lost because it was the first such test for me. So, attempting the past year experiments (resources provided by Fizika) gave me the precious chance to simulate the feeling of being thrown random materials and having to think of a creative solution! Looking back, without Fizika, I don’t think I could ever come this far.

Not to forget, Fizika comes with its very own Discord server, where you get to meet like-minded physics enjoyers! I remember heartily engaging in lively discussions about particularly challenging questions while studying for the SPhO, so I do invite you to contribute your ideas!

With that, I hope you are excited for the Physics journey ahead; all the best!
